MARCH 2011

I have signed up to take part in the Soldiers Challenge. Not quite sure what I have let myself in for but it sounds like fun.....I think! Luckily I have got these three, big, strapping blokes to be part of my team, which makes me feel a bit more confident. We are going to be tackling abseiling in the City of London, leopard crawling through Hyde Park and running an obstacle course in the moat at the Tower of London in the event, taking place in central London on 26 March 2011.

Every penny fundraised by the participants of Soldier Challenge goes straight to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity; supporting soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of real need, throughout their life. The Soldier Challenge is being held to tackle the shortfall in funds seen by the Charity due to the rise in applications for grants, currently on the increase by some 30% due to current conflicts – a major factor being post traumatic stress disorder.

Anyone over the age of 16 can sign up their ‘squad’ of up to four competitors to take part in the first Soldier Challenge Rat Race Adventure giving people the opportunity to tackle a range of high adrenaline tasks around the capital, while at the same time raising money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

Help for Heroes Celebrity Golf Day at Stoke Park

I was so pleased to be able to help out with the charity golf day. I was even more pleased that my job was inside on registration with Emma, Steve, Chris and Lee, rather than on the green as it was one of the wettest days this year! It was lovely to be working with a team of people from Bolton, you really can't beat 'northern folk'!
The weather didn't stop a good turn out of golfers though, each team headed by a celebrity player. Over £130,000 was raised in total. A fantastic amount for a very worthy cause.
Thanks John for the delicious pasties, they went down a treat!
