Virgin Active Triathlon

Ortise, Richard and I complete our Virgin Active London Triathlon team challenge

I was lucky enough to take part in the Virgin Active London Triathlon 2011. I felt proud to be part of Richard Branson's team, along with Ortise Williams. Richard braved the docks in his wetsuit, Ortise whizzed round on his bike then I ran 5k to complete the sprint distance challenge.

Leading up to the event I trained with Darren Anderson from Virgin Active to improve my strength and fitness. A fantastic personal trainer who works you very hard to achieve your goals.

I have also started swimming lessons with Gosh who will hopefully teach me how to do front crawl and improve my confidence in the water. I would love to do a full traithlon but at present can only swim breast stroke (not very well!) and can't do front crawl at all, not to mention diving or being comfortable breathing under water. I am going to stick with it so hopefully next year I'll be swimming with the best of them in the biggest triathlon in the world.

Well done to all who took part on both the Saturday, including the rest of the Virgin Active teams and Sunday, team and individual challenges. A great achievement. Thanks to everyone who offered their support . Hopefully see you there again next year!

Well done to the whole Virgin Active team

Help for Heroes Celebrity Golf Day at Stoke Park

I was so pleased to be able to help out with the charity golf day. I was even more pleased that my job was inside on registration with Emma, Steve, Chris and Lee, rather than on the green as it was one of the wettest days this year! It was lovely to be working with a team of people from Bolton, you really can't beat 'northern folk'!
The weather didn't stop a good turn out of golfers though, each team headed by a celebrity player. Over £130,000 was raised in total. A fantastic amount for a very worthy cause.
Thanks John for the delicious pasties, they went down a treat!
