Just got back from doing the Great North Run. It was a fantastic day for so many people. Well done to all 54,000 who took part, expecially the 2500 strong Cancer Resaerch UK team that included boxer Tony Jeffries, Tony Burden, Chris Burnical, Warren Baister, Apprentice candidates, Leon Doyle, Noorul Choudray and Gavin Winstanley and Phoebe Thomas. I manged to run the 13.1miles in 1 hour 25mins 10 seconds, a personal best, so chuffed and celebrating by tucking in to lots of chocolate!
I always feel very fortunate to be able to experience such an amazing event, that's why it's called the Great North Run, because it's just..... GREAT!
Hopefully see you all again same time, same place next year! Check out all the Bupa Great Run series on http://www.greatrun.org/

Just got back from sunny Scotland after completing the Great Scottish Run 10K. I was heading a team from Lloyds Banking Group who had over 550 employees taking part to raise a staggering £40,000 for Save the Children Charity. Olympian Jason Gardener was also leading a team around the Glasgow centre. Well done to all 22,542 who took part in the10K and half marathon race, it was great to see so many people of all ages and abilities running together, a record number. I really enjoyed the run, it was really well organised by Bank of Scotland, a great atmosphere, helped by the fantastic music along the route, especially the drums. Thank you so much to the man outside Shopsmart on Marshall Street who was shouting out words of encouragement over his microphone as everyone passed by. It was lovely to meet so many of you after the run for a quick chat. As much as I enjoyed the numerous sweaty cuddles as we had our photo taken, my favourite was definately the group hug I got from the lovely Jason Gardiner, cuddly Daly Thompson and gorgeous Mark Foster! Don't miss out on the next Great Scottish Run, go to http://www.runglasgow.org/GSR-2011
