The Richmond Park Marathon is one of the newest marathons in the race calendar but already proving a huge success by being awarded 'Best New Event' by Runner's World Magazine. A fantastic setting for any run, training or race, the park is one of the best in the country.
As I won't get chance to take part in the actual race, I decided to jump at the opportunity to go and run alongside some of the marshalls (who will obviously be working on the Richmond Park Marathon) and show my support. It was a lovely calm atmosphere as the idea was to check out the route that will be used for the marathon the following week. Race organiser, Gareth Davies was there to lead the way. I only ran 12 miles. It's the furthest I have run since the London Marathon. It felt so good to stride out on a long run.
Well done to everyone who ran on Sunday, especially Stephanie as it was the first time she completed the full marathon distance. Thanks Mark for putting up with me waffling on to you for 12 miles. Bet you were glad of a bit of peace and quiet once I left! Hope your wife and son were still there for you as I see that you took a little longer than expected :)

Alan Rumbles wasn't on this picture as he was full of cold so we didn't want him near us! Only joking! He had just popped off to the loo, but he did still have the last bits of a snotty cold!

Special thank you to Ollie who looked after all of our belongings and manned the drinks station.

.........Rich presented me with a framed photograph of when I was just about to complete the London Marathon. I was extremely grateful as I have never managed to get any pictures of me running in the marathon before, usually only after the finish. It is one of the nicest things I have ever been given!
Good luck to everyone taking part in the Richmond Park Marathon this coming Sunday 20th May. As well as medals and goody bags there are some fab prizes to be won kindly donated by DoRunning. Enjoy!
