JULY 2012

MY MAN OF THE YEAR!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet the finalists of Man of the Year at the Slimming World headquarters in the midlands. Each person had worked hard to achieve their target weight loss and in the process, changing their lives for the better, on a more serious note, saving their lives.

They are all fantastic role models to show that it is never too late to make lifestyle and diet changes. They were all deserving winners but the judges had to choose one person who's story stood out a little bit more from the rest.

Since joining Slimming World in June 2011 James lost an amazing 10st 6lb. 30 year old geography teacher James had been overweighthis whole adult life and he weighed in at 23 stone 12lb at his heaviest.

Just before his 30th birthday James had a realisation that he’d spent half his life feeling unhappy about his weight andshying away from life. A friend was a Slimming World member and had recommended it in the past, so he arranged to go with her to her group!

James always used to be conscious of his size and would worry what people would think. Since losing the weight he no longer worries - he just gets on and enjoys life. He has now taken uprunning and has a love of planning and cooking delicious Extra Easy meals.

James was also surprised by the reaction of the children he teaches at the High School – they have been incredibly supportive and shown lots of interest. In fact he was interviewed by somestudents so they could write a magazine article to include in their coursework.

Well done James!

Help for Heroes Celebrity Golf Day at Stoke Park

I was so pleased to be able to help out with the charity golf day. I was even more pleased that my job was inside on registration with Emma, Steve, Chris and Lee, rather than on the green as it was one of the wettest days this year! It was lovely to be working with a team of people from Bolton, you really can't beat 'northern folk'!
The weather didn't stop a good turn out of golfers though, each team headed by a celebrity player. Over £130,000 was raised in total. A fantastic amount for a very worthy cause.
Thanks John for the delicious pasties, they went down a treat!
